East Coast Docks is seeking professional and detail-oriented individuals in the role of General Labourer to join our growing company. The successful candidates will have experience working in both shop and sitework environments. As a key member of our company’s front line service teams, East Coast Docks General Labourers work together and with the Installation and Warehouse Teams to ensure company and industry standards are maintained on all projects, and customer expectations are exceeded.
General Labourer positions at East Coast Docks are permanent full-time, Monday to Friday positions. Some weekend and evening work is required during busy seasons (spring and fall). We provide compensation packages commensurate with experience. East Coast Docks recognizes and pays employees for a combination of 12 statutory and civic holidays annually. Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment
- Assisting with construction and maintenance projects
- Assisting with the assembly and installation of dock systems
- Operating power tools and hand tools to cut, drill and install dock materials
- Lifting and positioning dock sections and materials
- Warehousing: receiving/inspecting/sorting shipments; prepare outgoing shipments; inventory
- Performing general manual labor tasks
- Cleaning and maintaining work areas
- Ensuring that all work is completed to high standards of quality and safety
Requirements
- Must be in good physical condition
- Being able to read and understand basic instructions and perform basic calculations is required
- Previous experience in a similar job is beneficial
- Should be eager to learn new skills and be willing to take on new challenges
- Working around heavy machinery and equipment, so candidates must be aware of and follow safety protocols
- Must have a valid driver’s license
