The Class 1 Lowbed Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of heavy equipment and machinery throughout the Kootenays and surrounding regions. This role operates lowbed truck and trailer combinations to haul oversize and overweight loads, ensuring compliance with permitting, route requirements, and transportation regulations. Success in this position requires strong load securement skills, a commitment to safety, equipment care, and the ability to deliver professional, reliable service in a dynamic operating environment.

Compensation & Schedule
$42.90 per hour
Drivers are paid in accordance with the applicable rate for this position. Additional premiums, allowances, and benefits may apply.
Responsibilities
- Operate lowbed truck and trailer hauling heavy equipment and machinery
- Transport oversize and overweight loads in compliance with provincial regulations
- Plan routes and ensure proper permitting for over-dimensional loads
- Safely load and secure equipment for transport
- Assist with loading/unloading equipment where required
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and equipment compliance
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and trip data using ISAAC system
- Ensure all loads are secured and transported safely
- Keep equipment clean and in safe working condition
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 Driver's Licence
- Proven experience operating lowbed trailers
- Experience hauling oversize and overweight loads
- Strong understanding of provincial over-dimensional regulations and restrictions
- Ability to safely operate heavy equipment (asset)
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance
- Acceptable commercial driver's abstract
- Ability to pass pre-employment Drug & Alcohol Testing
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physical environments
