To be eligible for this position, you must meet the participant requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Agreement with as outlined:
be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Note: International students are not eligible participants.
We are currently accepting applications for summer students interested in working as a Program assistant – education.
What you'll get to do:
Asist with client intake, screening, and registration processes
Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of activities for newcomers and families
Provide one on one support to newcomers and families to help them identify AI related scams, understand the limitations of AI
tools, and verify AI generated information
Collaborate with the Settlement Program team to conduct outreach for planned activities and programs
Provide individualized support in an inclusive, respectful, and culturally responsive environment for diverse learners
Gather, document, and assist in analyzing program evaluations and participant feed
What you need to know/have:
· Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a post-secondary program in Social Services or a related field
- Experience working with newcomers, families, or community‑based programs
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow safety procedures and organizational policies
- Basic understanding of digital literacy concepts; familiarity with AI tools and online safety is an asset
- Ability to work with various levels of learners in a hybrid environment
- Flexible and adaptable working within diverse populations
- Excellent verbal and written English skills, second language is an asset
Location: 3660 Hurontario St, 7th Fl, Mississauga, ON L5B 3C4
Hours: 35 per week, occasional weekends and evenings may be required.
Compensation: $17.60 per hour
