About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to support and optimize daily clinic operations in a fast-paced walk-in medical setting. This role is central to improving patient flow, clinical efficiency, and provider productivity.
The RPN will act as the clinical coordinator between front desk staff and physicians, ensuring patients are appropriately triaged, prepared, and managed so physicians can focus on timely patient care and increased patient volume.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Flow & Clinical Coordination
- Oversee and support daily patient flow from intake to physician assessment
- Collaborate with front desk staff to ensure patients are properly signed in and directed to exam rooms
- Prioritize and organize patients based on clinical urgency and provider availability
- Ensure exam rooms are prepared and patients are ready for physician assessment in a timely manner
Clinical Triage & Nursing Care
- Perform initial patient triage and assessment
- Take and document vital signs and relevant clinical history
- Identify urgent or high-risk patients and escalate appropriately to the physician
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in EMR systems
Vaccinations & Clinical Procedures
- Administer vaccinations (e.g., flu shots, routine immunizations, and other clinic-approved vaccines)
- Support routine nursing procedures within scope of practice
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and documentation of vaccines and medical supplies
Clinic Efficiency & Workflow Support
- Continuously monitor patient wait times and clinic flow efficiency
- Support physicians by ensuring all required patient information is complete prior to consultation
- Help reduce physician downtime by ensuring smooth transition between patients
- Identify and recommend improvements to clinic workflow and patient throughput
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with MOA/front desk staff to maintain efficient patient movement
- Support physicians and clinical staff in delivering high-quality care
- Maintain a professional, calm, and organized clinic environment
Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Must hold a valid and active Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) license
- Completion of a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) diploma
- Experience in a clinic, walk-in, or primary care setting preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Excellent communication and patient care skills
- Experience with EMR systems considered an asset
- Mandarin speaking is an asset
Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: $27.11-$45.49 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
