About Scholar's Studio
Scholar's Studio is an enrichment learning program designed to help children develop strong mathematical thinking through inquiry-based, hands-on learning. Our approach focuses on building deep conceptual understanding before moving into abstract problem-solving.
Students explore math using manipulatives, visual models, movement, games, and real-world applications. We believe math should be active, engaging, and meaningful—not memorization-based.
We are looking for passionate Math Instructors to join our weekend program and bring math to life for elementary-aged learners.
What You'll Do
- Teach engaging Math enrichment classes for elementary-aged students
- Use hands-on manipulatives, visuals, and real-world examples to build conceptual understanding
- Introduce math concepts through inquiry, exploration, and guided discovery
- Incorporate movement, games, and interactive activities to reinforce learning
- Support students in developing problem-solving and reasoning skills
- Transition students from concrete understanding to abstract thinking
- Create a positive, encouraging, and structured learning environment
- Adapt instruction to meet different learning needs and abilities
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Is passionate about teaching math in a meaningful and engaging way
- Believes children learn best through exploration and hands-on experiences
- Enjoys using games, manipulatives, and movement to teach concepts
- Prioritizes understanding and reasoning over rote memorization
- Brings energy, patience, and creativity into the classroom
- Can make math feel accessible, fun, and confidence-building
- Is organized, reliable, and professional
Qualifications
- Experience teaching, tutoring, or working with children in a learning environment
- Strong understanding of elementary math concepts
- Background in Education, Math, Engineering, Child & Youth Studies, or related fields is an asset
- OCT certification is welcome but not required
- Experience with manipulatives-based, inquiry-based, or experiential math instruction is strongly preferred
- Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one)

Schedule
- Weekend availability required (Saturday and/or Sunday)
- Part-time role with potential for additional hours as the program grows
