Job Title: Slitter Operator

Our client in Toronto, ON is actively looking for a Slitter Operator to join their team.
Position Description:
The Machine Helper is a hands-on manufacturing role that supports machine operators in meeting daily production goals while maintaining high standards of safety and quality. This position is ideal for someone who is reliable, team-oriented, and interested in developing their skills within a production environment.
The successful candidate will assist with material staging, packaging, machine support, and line operations. This role provides exposure to various production processes and offers opportunities for career growth into roles such as Material Handler or Machine Operator.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure skids are available for production jobs and assist with building skids when required
- Package skids of steel sheets or slit material according to order specifications
- Support Machine Operators to ensure smooth production operations
- Assist with machine setups based on order requirements
- Stage and load materials for production lines
- Use lifting equipment to move materials safely to the production area
- Assist with tagging finished cut materials
- Support packaging requirements across different machines as needed
- Follow all safety procedures and report hazards or quality concerns immediately
Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Forklift experience is an asset
- Overhead crane experience is an asset
- Ability to read imperial and metric measuring tapes accurately
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Basic computer skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Reliable attendance and strong attention to detail
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
