Supervisor: Superintendent of Education, Learning Services - Equity/Indigenous Education
Permanent: 35 hours per week, 12-month position
Annual Salary: $73,430-$85,905 (Sept.1/25 rate)
Position Summary:
In support of the strategic priorities of Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB), we are seeking individuals whose diverse identities, lived experiences, and perspectives will strengthen our ability to serve and reflect on our students and communities. The Inclusive Education Coordinator will support the implementation of the Ontario Equity Action Plan by providing both centralized learning and training, building, and maintaining relationships with community partners and coordinating and facilitating learning events for students and/or staff.
Based on the nature of this position, and pursuant to Part II of the special employment guidelines of the Ontario Human Rights Code, lived experience is regarded as directly relevant to the skills and knowledge required for the success of this position and its impact to the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate in transformational work to expand cultures of respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
-
Implement equity action planning in support of strategic priorities in areas of excellence in teaching and learning, equity, diversity and inclusion, community, and well-being.
-
Build and enhance a culture of respect for the principles of human rights and equity through leadership, education, training, and relationship building.
-
Provide support with professional development.
-
Provide support for student achievement, transitions, and cultural initiatives.
-
Work with school and system staff to support student achievement and well-being of students who are historically disadvantaged.

Contribute to the development and design of educational programs and provide system-wide and customized training workshops.

Promote a positive human rights culture and educational programs designed to eliminate disadvantage caused by discrimination/harassment resulting in positive systemic changes.
- Provide leadership in fostering diversity, equity and inclusiveness in contributing to the development and implementation of programs and services.
- Support equitable teaching and learning for all students, including promoting culturally responsive and relevant pedagogy.

Qualifications and Experience:

Post-secondary degree or diploma related to equity studies, diversity and inclusion, social work, or a related field.

Five (5) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of transferrable education and experience.

Proven ability in promoting equitable practices which value inclusiveness and diversity within an organization.

Strong cultural competence and demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment.

Knowledge of Ontario's publicly funded schools.
- Familiarity with the Ontario Human Rights Code.
- Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting marginalized groups and working with diverse communities in an anti-oppressive/anti-racist, culturally relevant, and responsive manner.

Demonstrated experience dealing with sensitive and confidential information and handling issues with sensitivity, good judgement, and discretion.

Excellent organizational skills with respect to planning, communication, attention to detail, decision making, motivating and problem solving.

Excellent relationship building skills, sound judgement, sensitivity, and an inclusive approach to building consensus and solving problems.

Exemplary interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

High aptitude in computer operations and skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Excellent ability to prioritize, multi-task and co-ordinate jobs/tasks to meet deadlines and handle frequent concurrent tasks in a demanding environment.
Job Requirements:

Valid Ontario Class Driver's license and willingness to work all regions of Bluewater District School Board (Grey and Bruce counties).

Reliable vehicle.
