Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to become the primary operator within our equipment division. This position is responsible for performing excavation, grading, site preparation, and other equipment-related work in support of our custom home construction projects.
The successful candidate will be highly competent, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently while also fitting seamlessly into a close-knit construction team. We are looking for someone who values quality workmanship above all else. While efficiency is important, our priority is getting the job done right.
Responsibilities
- Operate excavators, skid steers, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
- Complete excavation, septic, grading, trenching, backfilling, and other site preparation work for custom home projects.
- Perform fine grading and detailed work requiring precision and attention to detail.
- Work closely with site supervisors, carpenters, subcontractors, and labourers to support overall project progress.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance requirements.
- Maintain equipment in clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable regulations.
- Assist with general site activities when equipment operation is not required.
- Represent the company professionally on active construction sites.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating construction equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform both rough and fine grading work.
- Strong understanding of residential construction and site servicing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong awareness of jobsite safety and hazard recognition.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
- Reliable, dependable, and professional.
