We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of Program Driver & Utilities Repairman at Simple Solutions Care Inc. This role combines providing safe and reliable transportation services for clients, along with hands-on utilities repair and maintenance to ensure smooth operations of our facilities. A weekly driving schedule will be provided by management, and flexibility is required to accommodate client and program needs.
Position Summary:
The Program Driver & Utilities Repairman is responsible for transporting clients to and from various locations while performing maintenance and repair work to ensure our facilities meet safety and operational standards. This role requires a clean driving record, a valid Class 4 driver’s license, and the physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transportation Services:
- Provide safe and timely transportation for clients to and from appointments, school, daycare, and other activities as per the weekly driving schedule provided by management.
- Ensure compliance with traffic laws, company policies, and client care guidelines.
- Assist clients in entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Maintain punctuality for pick-ups and drop-offs, and monitor client behavior during trips.
- Utilities Repair & Maintenance:
- Perform routine and emergency repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other facility systems.
- Conduct safety checks and preventive maintenance to address issues as they arise.
- Maintain tools and equipment needed for repairs, and coordinate with external contractors for larger repairs.
- Ensure that facilities are well-maintained and adhere to safety standards.
- Client Care & Safety:
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of clients during transportation and while performing facility repairs.
- Secure clients with appropriate seat belts or car seats according to safety regulations.
- Report any behavioral incidents or accidents to the Program Coordinator and document details as required.
- Be aware of any special accommodations required by clients and ensure they are met during transport.
- Vehicle Maintenance & Safety:
- Perform regular checks on the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition, including oil levels, tire pressure, brakes, and lights.
- Keep the vehicle clean, fueled, and ready for use at all times.
- Report any mechanical issues to the Operations Manager immediately and maintain a log of vehicle usage and repairs.
- Documentation & Communication:
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, repair work, and vehicle maintenance.
- Communicate professionally with program staff, clients, families, and contractors to coordinate transportation and repair schedules.
- Report any changes to the transportation schedule or facility maintenance promptly to relevant parties.
- Adherence to Policies & Procedures:
- Follow all organizational policies regarding client care, safety, and confidentiality.
- Adhere to guidelines for transporting children, ensuring proper supervision and care during transit.
- Follow safety protocols in emergencies and maintain a valid Class 4 driver’s license.
- Support Program Activities:
- Assist staff in supervising clients during group outings, ensuring their safety in transit and at event locations.
- Help coordinate logistics for large group activities, including transportation and repair needs.
Qualifications:
- Education:High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in utilities repair (preferred).
- Experience:Minimum 1-2 years of driving experience, preferably working with vulnerable populations. Experience with utilities repair, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, is highly desirable.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid Class 4 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of road safety and traffic regulations.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Excellent communication skills and a caring, responsible attitude when interacting with clients.
- Strong utilities repair skills for routine maintenance.
Working Conditions:
- Travel: Extensive local travel between group homes and other designated locations.
- Hours: Flexible hours based on the weekly driving schedule provided by management, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, perform hands-on repairs, and assist clients with mobility issues.
