Reporting to the HSE Manager, the Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for providing health and safety direction, support, and leadership to project supervisors, employees, and contractors. The successful candidate will support all management in implementing, monitoring, and improving the Project Safety Plan and Construction Safety Management System, as well as assist project management in directing contractors, visitors, and employees on project safety standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Strong working relationship with site supervision and project management to ensure safe methods of work are designed and implemented
· Provide support for assigned areas, including new hire induction
· Participate in &/or provide direction to others conducting incident investigations, including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions
· Guide Joint Health and Safety Committees on safety related matters
· Work with client representatives to resolve identified issues and opportunities
· Consolidate safety reports for project management signoff
· Conduct project level inspections and audits as required by safety program
· Monitor, coordinate, and implement occupational health and safety programs
Requirements
· 5-10 years of relevant experience in a safety role in the industrial / mining sector will be required
· National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Certification or equivalent certification from a recognized association or Board is an asset
· A valid driver’s license required
· Current safety tickets would be beneficial
· Strong working knowledge of OHS Act and Regulations
· Knowledge of Hazard Controls, Inspections and Audits
· Experience in mine camp work
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
· Able to work a variety of hours/OT as required by jobsite contract
· Working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction terms and processes

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
