Renovation Lead Hand
Position Summary
The Renovation Lead Hand is responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operations on renovation projects while actively participating in construction activities. This role supports the Project Manager by coordinating trades, maintaining project schedules, ensuring quality workmanship, and promoting a safe and productive work environment.
The ideal candidate is a skilled carpenter or renovation professional with strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and experience managing residential renovation projects from demolition through completion.
Key Responsibilities
Site Operations & Leadership
- Lead daily on-site renovation activities and coordinate workflow among crews and subcontractors.
- This is a hands on position but you will oversee labourers, carpenters, and apprentices to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
- Assist in scheduling trades and managing project timelines.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with building codes, company standards, and client expectations.
- Identify and resolve site issues proactively to minimize delays and deficiencies.
Carpentry & Construction Duties
- Perform skilled carpentry and renovation work including framing, finishing, demolition, installation, and general construction tasks.
- Complete deficiency corrections and final finishing work as required.
- Coordinate material deliveries and maintain inventory of tools and site supplies.
- Ensure job sites remain organized, secure, and clean throughout project duration.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce WorkSafeBC safety standards and company safety policies.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and hazard assessments.
- Ensure all workers and subcontractors comply with safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns promptly.
Client & Team Communication
- Maintain professional communication with homeowners, clients, trades, suppliers, and project management.
- Provide daily updates regarding project progress, scheduling concerns, and site conditions.
- Assist with site meetings and walkthroughs as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of residential renovation or construction experience.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods and renovation sequencing.
- Proficient in reading blueprints and construction documents.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Experience with insurance restoration projects considered an asset.

Pay: $32.00-$38.00 per hour
