We are excited to launch a new project this fall : "The General Store"
Summary
"The General Store" will be a new country store/ convenience/ info center and gift shop opening beside the historic Mono Cliffs Inn in Mono Centre. The store will offer convenience products, frozen prepared foods, coffee, specialty groceries, locally made products, gifts and souvenirs.
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Store Manager to help launch the business and manage its day-to-day operation.
Responsibilities
- Help prepare the store for opening, including product selection, merchandising and operational setup
- Manage daily store operations, opening and closing procedures
- Recruit, train and schedule part-time staff
- Maintain inventory levels and place supplier orders
- Monitor product margins, waste, shrinkage and sales performance
- Operate and oversee the point-of-sale system and cash procedures
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization and customer service
- Build relationships with local suppliers, residents and visitors
- Develop seasonal displays and promotions
- Work closely with the owner and the Mono Cliffs Inn management team
Qualifications
- At least two years of retail, grocery, convenience-store or hospitality-management experience
- Strong customer-service and staff-leadership skills
- Experience with inventory control, ordering and merchandising
- Comfortable working independently in a small, hands-on business
- Organized, reliable and able to solve problems without constant supervision
- Available to work weekends and some holidays
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are required because of the rural location
Experience opening a new retail business, working with specialty food products or supporting local suppliers would be an asset.
Pay: $49,500.00-$55,000.00 per year
