The Ministry of Social Services Client Service Centre in Regina is looking to fill one (1) Income Assistance Worker position in the Provincial Administration Service Centre. The successful candidate must be available to work 37 1/3 hours per week (EDO every 3 weeks).
The successful candidate will be client-service oriented, respectful and able to work effectively as part of a team delivering services to individuals in accordance with regulations and policies governed by the Saskatchewan Assistance Act. Using a solution-focused and strength-based approach, you will assess ongoing eligibility for financial and health benefits; make referrals to outside agencies and community resources; provide referrals within the Ministry, prepare written correspondence; complete research and make recommendations within program regulations while balancing workload pressures in order to meet deadlines. You will be required to access, input and retrieve information utilizing several computer systems (SWIN, Outlook, Word, etc.).
The successful candidate will have knowledge of multicultural perspectives, awareness of challenges faced by persons with disabilities, interviewing skills, the impacts of poverty and principles of Social Work. You must have the ability to conduct interviews over the phone and evaluate and integrate these details to assist clients and trustees in setting goals to ensure client participation in community life and financial stability. You will also have the ability to organize and record information and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals.
Typically, the knowledge required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, or alternate bachelor-level social work degree from an accredited university, as approved by the CASSW. A combination of human services experience, information gathering, and assessment skills will also be considered.
