OTD Ticket Defenders Legal Services is seeking a licensed paralegal litigator to join our Cambridge team.
Qualifications:
Applicant must be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and have a valid driver's licence with reliable transportation. The ideal candidate has excellent attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, strong written and verbal skills, is computer proficient, and a proven track record as a paralegal litigator.
Experience:
Previous experience as a licensed paralegal with Provincial Offences/Highway Traffic Act matters is required. Experience as a litigator/in court is required.
Responsibilities:
General job duties include (but are not limited to):
- Attendance at court for general appearances, plea dates and to conduct trials
- Reviewing client disclosure
- Managing court lists (scheduling)
- Preparation for court including client meetings
- Case law research
- Witness interviews
- Resolution discussions with Crown/Prosecutors in person and by phone
- Reviewing and drafting legal documents
- Obtaining instructions from clients
- Reporting court results to clients (orally and in writing)

This is a full-time, in-person position (hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday) in Cambridge.
