About the Role
We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Facilities & Janitorial Technician to keep our manufacturing facility clean, safe, and inspection-ready. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the shop floor, common areas, grounds, and building systems. This isn't a "mop and go" role — in an ISO-certified precision manufacturing environment, facility cleanliness is part of product quality. If you take pride in keeping a space dialed in, this is your shop.
What You'll Do
Facility Cleaning & Upkeep
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop floor, common areas, washrooms, and break rooms to ISO 9001:2015 housekeeping and 5S standards
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and sanitize all areas on a daily schedule
- Empty waste bins and manage waste removal — general waste, recycling, and scrap materials
- Clean and restock washrooms and break room supplies
- Keep windows, doors, and interior surfaces clean and presentable
Building Maintenance
- Perform minor facility repairs including lighting, plumbing, doors, and dock equipment
- Maintain HVAC filters, ventilation systems, and general building systems
- Keep the loading dock and yard areas clean and organized
- Snow removal, salting, and grounds upkeep as seasonally required
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain spill kits and respond to fluid spills promptly
- Support health and safety initiatives and keep SDS documentation current
- Ensure the facility meets ISO 9001:2015 housekeeping standards at all times
- Flag maintenance issues, hazards, and facility concerns to management
- Follow all OHSA requirements and company safety policies
What You Bring
Required:
- 1–3 years of experience in a janitorial, custodial, or facilities role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Comfortable with basic hand and power tools for minor building repairs
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, WHMIS, and safe handling procedures
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail — you notice what others walk past
- Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs and being on your feet all day
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred:
- Experience in an ISO-certified or regulated manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with 5S workplace organization methodology
- Forklift certification is an asset
- Snow removal/grounds maintenance experience
Compensation
- Starting at $22/hr CAD (commensurate with experience)
