Responsibilities:
· Set up, operate, and monitor submerged arc welding (SAW) equipment and wire-fed welding systems
· Interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding procedure specifications (WPS)
· Perform welding on structural steel and pressure components to required quality standards
· Adjust machine settings (voltage, amperage, travel speed, wire feed) to ensure proper weld quality
· Conduct pre-operational equipment checks and basic maintenance
· Inspect welds visually and assist with NDT preparation as required
· Handle and stage materials using overhead cranes or forklifts (if certified)
· Maintain a clean and organized work area
· Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures
· Report defects, equipment issues, or safety concerns to supervision
Qualifications:
· Valid Journeyman Wire Process Operator certificate or Journeyman Welder certificate
· ABSA Sub Arc Machine Welding Operator certificate
· Minimum 1 year experience operating submerged arc (SAW) or automated wire welding processes
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols
· Familiarity with CWB standards (or equivalent) is an asset
· Experience with heavy plate, pressure vessels, or structural fabrication preferred
· Overhead crane and/or forklift certification is an asset
