What This Role Involves:
The People & Culture Assistant offers a friendly and supportive first point of contact for members of our team with HR related inquiries, as well as for candidates who are interested in joining our organization. You will be an ambassador of our organization, providing empathetic, professional, and helpful support in a timely manner.
This position is an instrumental part of our external recruitment process, posting opportunities as they come available, screening applications (considering our Behaviour Model and the needs for each role), and coordinating selection and onboarding activities. You’ll also create profiles for new hires in our HRIS (BambooHR) and benefits platforms, while also updating records for existing team members.
On a day-to-day basis, you will provide support to our current employees, such as approving leave requests, and answering inquiries about policies, procedures, or benefits offerings, while also supporting to ongoing processes such as our recognition activities, annual performance reviews, code of conduct sign-offs, and engagement surveys.
Finally, our People & Culture team plays a key role in supporting the collaborative and welcoming community here at CCS, so you’ll be a part of our Culture Club and Social Society, playing a role in organizing events, celebrations, and activities that help to make this a Great Place to Work!
What We Have To Offer:
The starting salary range for this role is $47,580 – 51,142, which will consider previous related education and/or experience that exceeds the requirements as outlined below.
Plus, we offer an annual salary review process each January, so the successful candidate can expect to receive regular increases to their salary, subject to meeting established performance objectives.

What We Are Looking For:
The successful applicant for this position will bring the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma in a related field (e.g., Business Administration) is required, with a degree preferred.
- One to two years of previous human resources experience.
- Willingness to work towards Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and/or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills are required, including the ability to independently prioritize and multi-task.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills, demonstrating a genuine desire to work as part of a team and help people.
- Commitment to managing personal information in a confidential and sensitive manner.
- Professional phone manner, active listening skills, and the ability to convey information accurately.
- Positive, can-do attitude and a solution-focused approach, with the ability to adapt to change and work well under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer office applications (e.g. MS Office); min. of 50 wpm.
- Fluency in English required (additional language skills are an asset).

Work Environment:
This is a full-time position (35 hours/week) that with a hybrid work environment requiring 2 days per week worked from our New Westminster office. The remainder of the time may be worked remotely.
