About the Role
We are currently seeking someone specifically for overnight shifts.
This is a hands-on position best suited to someone who genuinely enjoys working with dogs, is comfortable working independently, and has previous professional experience in animal care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Caring for boarding dogs throughout the night
- Monitoring dogs to ensure their comfort, safety and wellbeing
- Walking dogs before bedtime and in the morning
- Feeding dogs when required
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary facility throughout the shift
- Cleaning accidents immediately and following our high hygiene standards
- Preparing the daycare for the following morning
- Communicating clearly with teammates regarding each dog’s overnight stay
This role requires confidence handling multiple dogs, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining KYON’s high standards of care.
Position Details
- Hours vary each week - flexibility is required
- Shifts may be scheduled on any day of the week, including weekends and holidays
- Overnight shifts are typically 6:30 PM – 7:00/8:00 AM or 8:00 PM – 7:00/8:00 AM
- Part-Time or Full-Time
- Long-term opportunity
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Pay: $18+/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Essential Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Has at least one year of professional experience working with dogs (daycare, boarding kennel, veterinary clinic, grooming salon or similar)
- Is passionate about dog welfare
- Is punctual, reliable and responsible
- Is comfortable working independently during overnight shifts
- Can confidently supervise and handle dogs with different personalities
- Understands dog body language and can safely redirect behaviour
- Communicates clearly and professionally with clients and coworkers
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Can walk multiple dogs safely in all weather conditions
- Is physically able to stand, walk and move throughout an active shift
- Is fluent in English
Assets (Not Required)
- Previous experience working overnight with dogs or animals
- 3+ years of professional dog care experience
- Education related to animal care, behaviour or training
- Professional references
Training
