Are you someone who loves digging into details, organizing information, and using your skills to create real, meaningful change? The Pembina Valley Humane Society (PVHS) is looking for a passionate, community-minded individual to join our Board of Directors as our Grants Co-Chair.
This volunteer role plays a vital part in helping animals get the care they deserve. By finding and securing funding, you help keep our shelter running, support animal welfare initiatives, and make future improvements possible — all while strengthening our connection to the community.
Term: 2 years (with potential reinstatement)Commitment: 10–15 hours per month

What You’ll Do
As Grants Co-Chair, you’re at the heart of bringing new opportunities to PVHS. You’ll work alongside our Grants Chair to search for funding, write and coordinate grant applications, and work closely with local councils, community partners, and our board to help move our mission forward.
You’ll be involved in
- Researching grants that support shelter improvements, animal care, and community programs
- Preparing and submitting grant applications
- Tracking deadlines, requirements, and reporting needs
- Building relationships with local municipalities and community partners
- Coordinating any required presentations
- Keeping our grant files organized in Google Drive
- Helping ensure projects funded by grants are completed and celebrated

- Strong written and verbal communication
- A love for details, accuracy, and staying organized
- Comfort speaking in public when needed
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently
- Curiosity, determination, and the desire to make a difference
- A passion for animal welfare and community impact
- Grant writing experience is a significant asset
Team & Board Expectations
- Attend monthly board meetings (second Monday of each month)
- Share regular updates on grant activities
- Attend the AGM in March
- Be present at two or more PVHS fundraising events each year
- Participate in municipal grant presentations (October–December)
