Position Overview
We are looking for a passionate and experienced VEX IQ Robotics Coach/Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students, has experience with VEX IQ Competition robotics, and is excited about mentoring teams through the engineering design process.
In this role, you will teach robotics fundamentals, coach students for VEX IQ competitions, and help them build technical skills, confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging VEX IQ robotics lessons and competition training.
- Teach students robotics concepts, engineering design, programming, and mechanical construction.
- Coach and mentor VEX IQ Competition teams throughout the season.
- Guide students in troubleshooting, testing, and improving robot performance.
- Foster teamwork, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Prepare students for local, regional, and provincial VEX IQ competitions.
- Maintain robotics equipment, tools, and inventory.
- Stay current with VEX IQ game updates, robotics technologies, and STEM education best practices.
- Communicate professionally with parents and the academy management team regarding student progress.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Education, Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience teaching or coaching VEX IQ Robotics or a similar educational robotics program.
- Knowledge of VEXcode IQ (Blocks and/or Python/C++) is preferred.
- Strong mechanical, engineering, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and classroom management abilities.
- Passion for STEM education and mentoring young learners.
- Organized, reliable, and able to work independently.
- Competition coaching experience is considered a strong asset.
