Step into the work that shapes decisions
This is an exciting core business role and is part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. You need to either be or going to be a University student and a Canadian citizen.
As a Business Analyst student, you will help turn everyday information into insight—and insight into action. You will sit close to the work, alongside program leaders, helping them see patterns, solve problems, and improve how services are delivered.
You will leave this role knowing not just how data works, but how organizations make decisions.
What you’ll do
- Turn raw data into clear, visual insights (dashboards, summaries, trends)
- Work with teams to understand how programs run—and where they get stuck
- Track key results and flag what’s working… and what isn’t
- Help map processes and spot opportunities to simplify or improve
- Build simple models in Excel or similar tools to support planning
- Prepare short, clear briefing notes that guide decision-making
- Translate numbers into plain language people can act on
- Support special projects that improve services and outcomes
What you’ll learn
This role is designed to stretch you.
You will learn how to:
- Ask better questions, not just find answers
- See the story behind the numbers
- Influence decisions without formal authority
- Work across teams with different perspectives
- Build clarity in complex situations
What you bring
You are a student who is curious, thoughtful, and not afraid to challenge what you see.
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (business, economics, data, or similar)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Comfortable working with spreadsheets and data
- Able to explain ideas clearly in plain language
- Detail-oriented, but able to see the bigger picture
- Open to feedback and willing to learn quickly
Support you’ll receive
- Daily guidance from an experienced supervisor
- Weekly 1:1 mentorship with a Director
- Hands-on exposure to real organizational decisions
- A chance to shape how services improve and not just observe
Who should apply
We encourage applications from all students including those facing barriers to employment
Why this role matters
You won’t just track activity, you’ll help make sense of it.
You won’t just report numbers, you’ll help change what happens next.
