The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience required, including 3–5 years in pediatric acute care, pediatric emergency, or ambulatory pediatrics. A minimum of 1 year of direct experience in a nursing coordinator role within a complex multidisciplinary team is required. Candidates must have 1–2 years of experience in chronic disease management, preferably related to pediatric obesity, as well as 1–2 years of nursing experience in an ambulatory clinic setting. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate must work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Physical requirements include the ability to lift, pull, and push up to 150 lbs, and provide CPR and first aid to individuals from birth through adulthood. Candidates must also successfully pass the Medication Administration exam with a score of 90% or higher, administered at the time of interview. Proficiency with electronic medical records, typing, and computer applications such as MS Office Suite and Connect Care is required. Working knowledge and/or experience in early intervention, maternal-child health, general pediatrics, behavioral pediatrics, and/or child and adolescent mental health is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Charge nurse experience and/or training is preferred. Preference will also be given to candidates with telephone assessment and triage experience. Familiarity with quality improvement and process improvement methodologies is considered an asset. Knowledge and/or training related to weight bias, pediatric obesity, and psychological health and safety is preferred.
