We are a Toronto-based growing company strengthening our finance function with a focus on management accounting and business decision support.
We are seeking a CPA-qualified professional who can translate financial data into meaningful insights and gradually take on team leadership responsibilities as the business grows.
About the Role
- This role will start as an individual contributor
- As workload and complexity increase, the position is expected to participate in building and leading a finance team
- This role offers a clear growth path toward senior finance leadership (e.g. Controller)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and monitor companies accounts.
- Verify purchase orders, supplier invoices, and payment records.
- Reconcile customer orders and payments, ensuring accuracy.
- Prepare and maintain financial documentation, invoices, and receipts.
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
- Participate in inventory counts and reconcile results with system records.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports
- Lead budgeting, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis
- Analyze gross margin, cost structure, and operating expenses
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis
- Develop and maintain KPIs and management dashboards
- Coordinate with bookkeeping staff and external CPA / tax advisors
- Provide financial and operational analysis to management in both English and Mandarin
- Participate in hiring, training, and supervising finance staff
- Review work quality and improve efficiency and accuracy
- Improve accounting and management reporting processes
- Act as a key finance partner to management
- Provide support to other departments during peak sales seasons as needed.
Qualifications
- Canadian/US CPA designation is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Approximately 5-10 years of relevant experience (industry preferred)
- Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical skills
- Solid understanding of ASPE / IFRS and basic Canadian tax framework
- Advanced Excel skills with strong attention to detail
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin (written and verbal) for professional financial communication
- Ability to work independently with a high level of professionalism and accountability
Compensation & Growth
- $93,000.00-116,160/year base compensation
- Performance bonus up to 20% of base pay
- Title and compensation will be reviewed as team leadership responsibility increases
- Clear growth path toward Controller-level responsibility
