Our client is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented, and independent Senior Accountant to co-own core areas of financial reporting, month-end and year-end close processes, and complex reconciliations. Reporting directly to the CFO, this key role ensures the absolute accuracy and integrity of financial records while actively supporting the development of scalable processes, internal controls, and finance systems. The successful candidate will hit the ground running to manage day-to-day finance operations, monitor critical accounting areas, and act as a reliable foundation for the scaling finance department.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Prepare and review journal entries, including complex accruals, adjustments, and intercompany transactions.
- Maintain and thoroughly review general ledger activity to ensure total accuracy and completeness.
- Support the comprehensive preparation of financial statements and routine management reporting.
- Ensure all accounting treatments align perfectly with applicable standards and internal corporate policies.
Reconciliations & Close Ownership
- Own key components of the monthly and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review detailed balance sheet reconciliations, aggressively investigating and resolving variances.
- Ensure the timely completion of close deliverables and all accompanying supporting schedules.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve close efficiency and reduce close cycle times.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all daily transactions and reporting comply strictly with internal controls and accounting standards.
- Maintain meticulous, organized, and audit-ready documentation across all assigned accounting areas.
- Support audit requests and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors on assigned areas.
- Assist with tax filings and specific regulatory reporting requirements.
Analysis, Business Support & Systems
- Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights on financial results.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes with highly relevant data and schedules.
- Monitor specialized accounting areas such as inventory, revenue, and intercompany transactions to flag issues proactively.
- Work inside the ERP system to ensure reliable data, support system enhancements, and contribute to standardizing finance policies.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with the Controller and VP of Finance to support broader corporate finance initiatives.
- Review financial work prepared by junior team members and provide guidance as needed.
- Act as an internal resource for technical accounting questions within the immediate team.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized and accountable accounting professional who brings 7 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including heavy ownership of month-end/year-end close cycles, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, and you possess a strong technical accounting foundation with a proven ability to independently prepare and review complex adjustments, intercompany schedules, and reconciliations. You have solid hands-on experience navigating ERP/finance systems alongside strong Excel skills.

You operate with minimal supervision, manage competing deadlines with excellent professional judgment, and comfortably navigate a fast-moving corporate environment with evolving processes. You are a collaborative team player who excels at partnering cross-functional teams to improve financial visibility while actively reviewing, guiding, and mentoring junior team members.

You are motivated by a clear professional growth path and possess the technical leadership capabilities to eventually transition toward an Accounting Manager or Controller role within the organization.
What will make you stand out:
- A completed CPA designation (preferred/required).
- Prior hands-on experience working directly within Business Central (BC) ERP systems.
- Deep, specialized experience managing complex corporate accounting areas such as inventory, revenue, leases, fixed assets, and tax.
- A proven track record of successfully improving processes, strengthening controls, increasing documentation, and optimizing close efficiency in an evolving business environment.
- Direct experience reviewing work and providing guidance to junior team members or shared contract accounting administrators.
