Junior Estimator
We are seeking a motivated Junior Estimator to join our estimating team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in construction estimating and project management. The successful candidate will assist with quantity takeoffs, pricing, bid preparation, and coordination with suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
Experience with drywall, steel stud framing, insulation, acoustical ceilings, taping, and interior finishing is an asset but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate with a construction-related background.
Responsibilities
- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for Drywall, Steel stud framing, Insulation, Acoustical ceilings, Taping and finishing, and Specialty interior systems
- Assist in preparing estimates, budgets, and bid submissions.
- Request and analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Maintain and update pricing databases.
- Communicate with general contractors, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings when required.
- Assist with change orders, scope reviews, and value engineering opportunities.
- Organize project documentation and tender files.
- Extract and manage data from online bidding portals and procurement platforms.
- Support senior estimators with multiple bids and ongoing projects.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, Building Science, or a related field.
- 0–3 years of estimating or construction experience.
- Familiarity with wood-frame, steel-frame, or commercial construction is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good mathematical and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with estimating software such as WinBid, Planswift, Bluebeam, or similar is an asset.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tender deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of drywall and interior finishing systems.
- Familiarity with steel structures.
- Experience working with online tender platforms and document management systems.
- Ability to review drawings and identify scope gaps or inconsistencies.

Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
