As a Claims Examiner, you will manage a portfolio of claims, conduct coverage analysis, evaluate liability and damages, and work closely with insureds, brokers, adjusters, and legal counsel to achieve timely and fair claim resolutions. Key Responsibilities

Manage complex Commercial Claims, with a primary focus on Commercial General Liability (CGL), from initial intake through resolution

Apply working knowledge of CGL and other related lines to support multi-line claims handling and identify overlapping or ancillary exposure

Ensure claims are handled in accordance with company claims philosophy, internal protocols, and reserving practices

Maintain accurate and thorough file documentation, including timely diary management, reserve updates, and clear coverage position

Lead negotiations and support resolution strategies, including litigation management, mediations, and settlement discussions where required

Prioritize workloads effectively and manage competing deadlines to ensure timely claim settlement

Communicate proactively with brokers, insureds, counsel, TPAs, and internal business partners throughout the life of the claim

Manage litigation, mediations, and trials – directing legal counsel

Participate in renewal discussions, broker meetings, and client-facing conversation

Identify trends, emerging issues, and loss patterns, and report key insights to management
Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 3+ years of claims handling experience, preferably in Property & CGL
-
Professional lines claim handling experience is an asset
-
Demonstrated ability to manage complex files independently and make sound coverage and resolution decisions.

University degree preferred

CIP designation or progress toward completion

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making ability

Advanced negotiation and decision-making skills

Strong relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities

Business acumen and a practical, solution-oriented approach to claims handling.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot or similar) to enhance productivity,

Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset

Pay information:
$47 - $60 per hour. This is a one year contract role.
This salary range reflects the expected base compensation for the role across Canada. Placement within the range will depend on a number of factors, including experience, qualifications, and the scope of responsibilities.
