JOB STATEMENT :
The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for working collaborative with multiple business stakeholder in assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of Traditions’ Health & Safety Programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assisting in the development of safe work procedures and documentation of standard operating procedures.
- Lead in the creation, implementation and monitoring of ad hoc and annual training requirements.
- Support the HR lead in claims management & investigations.
- Take a leading role in the JHSC as facilitator of the full JHSC Program. This includes maintaining our incident tracker, coordinating monthly meetings, workplace inspections, following up on JHSC actions with clear meeting notes and owners.
- Coordinate monthly inspections with JHSC members and ensure all actions are register for JHSC follow-up. This can include assigning responsibilities to respective departments and ensure timely follow-up.
- Coordinate and/or lead investigations into incidents and provide corrective actions with timelines.
- Work collaboratively with team members to identify risks and hazards and put recommendations in place to pro-actively avoid incidents.
- Maintain supply and inventory of health and safety equipment & supplies.
- Maintain SDS (Safety Data Sheet) binder plant wide based on chemical inventory
- Provide first aid as required and maintain the plant wide first aid kits with supplies
- Support the plant in the emergency evacuation procedure and maintain the log
- Maintain H&S metrics and documentation with the ability to present this information to as required to internal and external stakeholders
- Design, deliver and track training programs for team members. Including liaising with external vendors as required to deliver training.
- Develop and construct Physical Demand Assessment (PDA), Machine specific lockout tagout procedure, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Safe Work Procedures (SWP) identifying the basic job steps and tasks, their associated hazards and risks, developing safe operating procedures and hazard controls
- Engage with team members in the plant, completing daily walk throughs, inspections and H&S initiatives
- Support the Health & Safety initiatives and any other duties as assigned
HEALTH & SAFETY
- Conduct all Job Tasks in a Safe and Responsible manner.
- Be a key member of the JHSC to support SAFETY TRAINING mandate as described above.
- Report any accidents, incidents and unsafe/hazardous conditions to your Manager.
- Report any damages of property and machinery to your Manager.
- Ensure that you understand how and when to use the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) that is located in your work area.
- Ensure you comply with OHSA, WSIB, MOL regulations and/or laws that govern “workers” responsibilities in the workplace (covered during orientation – section 28 of the OHSA i.e. “Green Book”) and Comply with Tradition Fine Foods Ltd. Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP Programs
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Health & Safety
- Knowledge of health and safety laws and regulations
- 2-4 years of experience in Health & Safety role
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory training for all manufacturing onsite
- Knowledge of manufacturing and processing environments
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organization and analytical skills
- Must be extremely organized and a self-starter, able to work with limited supervision
- First Aid Certification would be an asset
- Strong computer skills are required, MS Office Suite and experience with Google Workspace an asset
- Available to support 24-hour operations, including working off-shifts to support training
