Under the direction of the Scaling Supervisor, the Yard Scaler is responsible for the measurement and recording of all wood harvested and delivered from Company limits and purchase wood. Must ensure uniformity in all scaling practices in accordance with Manitoba and Saskatchewan provincial and Company regulations. Must ensure that mill deliveries meet Company and provincial quality standards.
- Responsible for weighing and stratifying log trucks at the scales, log rail deliveries, scaling and assessing log quality while maintaining an unwavering focus on safety;
- Monthly yard inventories and reporting. Bush scaling as needed for the harvesting group to assess volumes;
- Operate in a safe manner in accordance to work safe rules, regulations, and policies;
- Recognize and eliminate all safety hazards;
- Ensure consistency of log scaling activities;
- Ensure compliance with scaling regulations.
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalency;
- Ability to obtain Manitoba and Saskatchewan Scaling License is required;

Knowledge in technical forestry and logging related skills would be considered an asset;

The successful applicant is required to be a self-starter with excellent organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills and must possess the ability to work with minimal supervision and changing priorities;

The ability to pay keen attention to detail is essential;

The incumbent must be able to operate in a team environment as well as manage relationships with contractors, government agencies and other outside resources;

Experience with various computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel required;
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
