Volunteer Board Member Opportunity
Cumberland Health Care Foundation
The Cumberland Health Care Foundation is seeking community-minded individuals to join its volunteer Board of Directors.
Our Foundation supports health care in Cumberland County by raising funds, building community partnerships, and investing in equipment, programs, and initiatives that enhance patient care and health services across the region.
As a governance board, we focus on strategic direction, oversight, and accountability to ensure that donor contributions are used effectively and responsibly to benefit our community.
About the Board
- Board members serve 2-year terms and are eligible for reappointment
- Six board meetings are held per year at 5:00 pm at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre
- There is a scheduled break from meetings between June and August
- Board members are covered under Directors and Officers (D&O) liability insurance
- This is a governance-focused role, not an operational or administrative position
What Board Members Do
- Attend regular board meetings and participate in strategic discussions
- Provide oversight of the Foundation’s performance and priorities
- Contribute skills, experience, and perspectives to decision-making
- Act as ambassadors for the Foundation within the community
- Support fundraising efforts through awareness, engagement, and advocacy
- Participate in committees or working groups as needed
Board members are not expected to solicit donations. The Foundation has a dedicated fundraising committee that supports community engagement and fundraising activities.
Who We Are Looking For
We welcome individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. We are particularly interested in people with skills or interest in:
- Finance, accounting, banking, or business
- Governance and leadership
- Health care or community services
- Community leadership and local knowledge
We are especially interested in individuals who may be open to future board leadership roles as part of their board service.
Previous board experience is not required.
