Position Summary:
The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring fleet availability, operational readiness, and maintenance effectiveness at the BCLM site. This role provides hands‑on leadership and oversight related to safety, R&M, asset management, and operational continuity.
Working closely with Operations, Fleet, EH&S, vendors, and third‑party service providers, the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor ensures that road‑ready units are available to meet daily operational demands while maintaining fleet assets in a safe, compliant, and cost‑effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Availability & Operational Readiness
· Ensure sufficient road‑ready units are available daily to meet operational requirements
· Coordinate truck assignments based on utilization, vehicle condition, and job requirements
· Minimize fleet downtime through proactive maintenance planning and repair prioritization
· Act as the single point of accountability for fleet availability to Operations
Maintenance & Repair Oversight:
· Schedule, track, and manage preventative maintenance (PMs) in alignment with Fleet‑prescribed weekly tracking systems
· Prioritize maintenance and repair activities based on safety risk, operational impact, and cost considerations
· In coordination with Holman and the Fleet team, review work orders, inspection reports, and repair histories
· Approve repairs and component replacements within established approval parameters, escalating as required
· Monitor maintenance turnaround times and shop performance in collaboration with the Fleet team
Vendor & Third‑Party Repair Management
· Manage local relationships with external repair facilities and mobile service providers
· Oversee local in‑house repair personnel, ensuring work aligns with skill sets, regulatory standards, and quality expectations
· Ensure vendor service level expectations are met, including response times, quality of work, cost control, and priority management
· Prioritize emergency repairs to minimize operational disruption
Safety, Compliance & Regulatory Control
· Ensure fleet compliance with all internal standards and regulatory requirements
· Conduct daily asset reviews to confirm Lytx and Geotab systems are active and functioning correctly
· Perform asset audits, inspections, and documentation compliance reviews
· Work closely with EHS and the Fleet team on incidents, investigations, and corrective action implementation
Cost Control & Asset Management
· Use local operational knowledge to identify high‑cost, high‑risk, or underperforming assets
· Liaise with the Fleet team to support informed repair‑versus‑replacement decisions
· Contribute to asset planning and lifecycle management initiatives
· Regulate in‑house parts programs, parts usage, and consumables to support cost control
Required Qualifications
· 3–5 years of experience in fleet, maintenance, or operations supervision
· Preference given to certified red seal candidates
· Strong understanding of preventative maintenance programs and fleet operations
· Experience managing vendors, repair facilities, and service providers
· Demonstrated focus on cost control, risk reduction, and operational efficiency
· Working knowledge of telematics, fleet management, or CMMS systems
· Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Trade background or technical certification (asset)
· Preference given to certified red seal candidates
· Experience in transportation, fueling, logistics, or industrial operations
· Familiarity with provincial and federal transportation and safety regulations
