About the Role
LoopX builds ClairAlert, a collision avoidance system deployed on heavy mining equipment at sites operated by Barrick, Vale, AEM, and Cementation. You will own the Operator Manual — the document put into the hands of every scoop, haul truck, and utility vehicle driver who uses our system underground. You report directly to the CPO and work alongside our hardware, software, and deployment teams.
We are hiring for one core skill: the ability to use a system you have never seen before, notice every point of confusion, and turn that into clear, visual documentation a mechanic can follow underground while wearing gloves.
What You Will Do
- Get introduced to the whole team in your first two weeks. When you need technical support, the CPO routes you to the right engineer — you are never stuck.
- Spend your first week as a new ClairAlert operator: install it, use it, try to break it, and log every point of confusion. That log is the foundation of the manual.
- Author the complete Operator Manual from outline to release-ready PDF, including photos, screencasts, and quick-reference cards.
- Visit customer mine sites in the Sudbury basin (multiple trips) to observe full installations and test your drafts on real operators.
- Run weekly reviews with the engineering team and revise across 2–3 cycles.
Must Have
- Enrolled in a co-op program (English, Communications, Professional Writing, Journalism, or Engineering with strong writing).
- Native or near-native English writing, with a portfolio that shows you can explain complex things simply.
- Critical thinking and fast self-directed learning — comfortable using AI tools and documentation to get up to speed in days, not weeks.
- Hands-on willingness: you will turn wrenches and plug in connectors, not just type.
- Valid Ontario G2 licence (G preferred); able to work hybrid out of Sudbury and travel to sites within ~100 km.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
Nice to Have
- Coursework in mining engineering, robotics, electrical and electronics, or mechatronics.
- Experience operating or working around heavy machinery (LHDs, haul trucks, forklifts, or comparable).
- Video/screencast or industrial photography experience.
What You Will Get
- $4,400–5,200 / month, full-time, plus relocation support for candidates moving to Sudbury.
- A real, shipping deliverable for your portfolio and recurring access to active mine sites.
- Direct mentorship from the CPO and senior engineers, with all PPE, safety training, and travel covered.
Pay: $4,400.00-$5,000.00 per month
