SALARY RANGE Job Class II ($61,116.640 - $72,198.880 2026 Rates)
The Police Service Quality Assurance Support Position plays a key role in strengthening accountability, operational effectiveness, legislative compliance, and continuous improvement across the Police Service. The Quality Civilian Support Position will report to the Inspector of the Corporate Development & Emergency Management Unit, this unit conducts independent audits, inspections, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019, associated regulations, Inspector General of Policing requirements, and Police Service Board policies.
This position supports a culture of transparency, professional excellence, and proactive risk management by identifying opportunities for improvement, monitoring corrective actions, and promoting best practices throughout the organization. The role serves as a trusted Quality Assurance Support staff by providing assistance to objective assessments and recommendations that enhance organizational performance and public confidence.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education
Post-secondary education in related field such as:
- Accounting
- Business Administration
- Public Administration
- Criminology
- Law
- Risk Management
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in auditing, compliance, risk management, governance, or quality assurance.
- Experience within policing, public sector, municipal government, regulatory, or oversight environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience conducting audits, investigations, inspections, or organizational reviews.
- Knowledge of Ontario policing legislation and accountability frameworks is considered a strong asset.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Audit, Compliance & Risk Management
- Assist in planning and conduct operational, administrative, compliance, and risk-based audits across all areas of the Service.
- Assist in the evaluation of compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and professional standards.
- Assist in performing inspections and quality assurance reviews in identified high-risk operational areas.
- Assist in assessing and developing organizational controls and identify operational, legal, financial, and reputational risks.
- Assist in developing recommendations and corrective action plans to address audit findings.
- Monitor and report on the implementation of corrective actions and organizational improvements.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Assist in the development and maintain quality assurance frameworks supporting adequate and effective policing requirements.
- Assist in establishing audit methodologies, inspection standards, and performance measures.
- Promote best practices and organizational learning to enhance service delivery.
- Support preparation for inspections and reviews conducted by the Inspector General of Policing and other oversight bodies.
- Assist and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and accountability frameworks.
Organizational Development
- Assist in provide guidance, mentoring, and training related to auditing, compliance, risk management, and quality assurance.
- Assist in developing internal auditing capacity and succession planning initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement across the Service.
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist in the preparation of clear and concise audit reports, risk assessments, and executive briefings.
- Assist in presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership, governance bodies, and oversight agencies.
- Maintain audit documentation and records in accordance with professional standards and legislative requirements.
