Responsibilities
- Measure and cut roofing materials accurately using hand tools and blueprint readings
- Install various roofing systems, including shingles, metal, or flat roofs, following safety standards and project specifications
- Use hand tools such as hammers, chisels, and utility knives to secure roofing components
- Perform heavy lifting of materials and equipment safely to ensure efficient workflow
- Read blueprints and construction plans to determine material requirements and installation procedures
- Apply caulking and sealants to ensure watertight joints and seams
- Conduct inspections of completed work to verify quality standards are met and perform necessary touch-ups or repairs
Skills
- Proficiency with hand tools essential for cutting, fastening, and shaping roofing materials
- Prior construction experience with a focus on roofing or related trades preferred
- Strong carpentry skills for framing, decking, and support structures
- Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret technical drawings
- Experience with caulking techniques for weatherproofing joints and seams
- Physical strength for heavy lifting, climbing ladders, and working at heights safely
- Handyman experience is a plus, demonstrating versatility across various repair tasks
