The Opportunity
Pioneer Construction Inc. is seeking hardworking and dependable AZ Paving Service Truck Driver to support our construction operations based in the Thunder Bay, Ontario area. This hands-on role involves operating a service truck to fuel, lubricate, maintain, and support heavy equipment and field crews at various construction and work sites. In addition to service truck duties, the successful candidate will operate heavy commercial vehicles to transport paving and construction equipment, tools, materials, and supplies to and from active job sites across the region. This position requires a valid AZ licence and is ideal for safety-focused individuals who enjoy working independently, supporting field operations, and being part of an active construction team.
Your Day-to-Day
- Safely operate a service truck and other commercial vehicles in accordance with company procedures, Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations, and applicable safety standards
- Safely load, secure, transport, and deliver paving equipment to and from the job site
- Fuel, grease, lubricate, and perform routine servicing of crew equipment
- Deliver tools, parts, fluids, and supplies to job sites as required
- Assist with loading and unloading of equipment and materials as required
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete vehicle inspection reports, and report unsafe conditions and accidents
- Inspect equipment for mechanical issues, leaks, damage, or unsafe conditions and report deficiencies promptly
- Assist mechanics and maintenance personnel with minor repairs and field servicing when required
- Maintain accurate service logs, fuel records, and inspection documentation
- Attend daily safety meetings
- Perform minor repairs to equipment when required
- Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment
- Maintain accurate electronic Hours of Service, vehicle inspection logs, and delivery documentation in compliance with MTO requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, crouching, climbing,
- crawling, repetitive reaching, and extended periods of sitting throughout the workday
- Schedule may include day shifts, night shifts, weekends, and extended seasonal hours
- Travel to job sites across Northern Ontario, including occasional out-of-town assignments with overnight stays
- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Required:
- Valid AZ class driver’s license with a clean Driver’s Abstract and CVOR
- Experience operating commercial vehicles or heavy trucks in construction, transportation, or related industries
- Ability to identify basic equipment issues
- Considered an Asset:
- Prior experience operating service trucks
- Prior experience transporting heavy equipment
- Surface Miner Common Core
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent
- Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to operate and maintain a service truck in both winter and summer conditions
- Knowledgeable and respectful of the Highway Traffic Act and Municipality by laws and regulations
- Knowledge of loading requirements, techniques, and practices
- Knowledge of safe fueling and fluid handling procedures
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Ability to work independently in remote or active construction environments
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with heavy equipment
- Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to changing operational needs
- Understanding of preventative maintenance practices
- Strong attention to detail to ensure work quality and compliance are being appropriately monitored through inspections and observations
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather and site conditions
- Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients

Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour
