St. Jacobs Place Retirement Residence offers luxury retirement and assisted living in Ontario's rural gem, the village of St. Jacobs, at the northern edge of Kitchener Waterloo. St. Jacobs Place is locally owned and operated, contributing greatly to our embracing the local rural culture, mixing finest quality care and luxury standards, with the homey warmth and comfort of a country lifestyle. We are a lovely intimate size with only 48 suites, permitting time to really get to know our Residents and their families.
This position is for 2-4 shifts biweekly ongoing with the ability to pick up shifts.
The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Routine medication administration (e.g. oral pills, eye drops, subcutaneous insulin injections, nasal spray, ointment, etc.)
- Provide bathing assiatnce/dressing as required
- Provide assistance in the dining room as required during meals.
- Take and record vitals as needed
- Fill portable oxygen tanks and maintain equipment
- Completing first aid as needed
- Complete reports for any falls or incidents during shift
- Use proper infection control techniques
- Act as the primary point of communication for emergency services when required
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all residents during the shift
- Report to the Director of Care
- Work as part of a team in support of one another and our residents
- Complete annual training
Requirements:
CPR and Standard First aid
Ability to speak, read and write in English
Must be able to follow verbal and written directions and to complete simple arithmetic calculations
Ability to do extensive standing, walking, squatting, and lifting as it pertains to resident care and housekeeping duties
Completion of a TB Test, a Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search as per the Retirement Homes Act
Experience in a healthcare setting (+2 years)
Experience with medication administration (preferred)
The successful candidate will posses the ability to work efficiently and follow direction effectively. They will recognize that there is little to no room for error in ensuring the safety of the residents. They will be able to handle any emergency situations that arise during their shift and act accordingly to ensure the safety of the residents, staff, and their self. They will interact with all residents with kindness, respect, and patience.
Shifts: Days 7am-3pm, Evenings 3pm-11pm or 4:30pm to 11:00pm
Please note that the Unregulated Care Provider Shifts have a $2.00 per hour premium.
