About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, skilled, and detail-oriented Floor Leveling Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the critical foundational work that guarantees flawless final flooring installations. You will evaluate subfloors, prepare surfaces, and apply self-leveling underlayments, compounds, and grinding techniques across both commercial and residential job sites.
This is a hands-on position requiring physical stamina, mechanical aptitude, and a sharp eye for detail. If you take pride in producing perfectly flat, high-quality surfaces, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Assessment: Inspect existing concrete and wood subfloors for flatness, moisture, cracks, and structural defects using straightedges, lasers, and engineering levels.
- Subfloor Preparation: Perform mechanical surface preparation including shot-blasting, diamond grinding, scraping, and chipping away old adhesives or contaminants.
- Patching & Repair: Clean and repair deep cracks, joints, and spalled concrete sections using specialized epoxy fillers and rapid-setting mortars.
- Priming & Pouring: Properly mix and apply substrate primers. Measure, mix, and expertly pour self-leveling underlayments (SLU) to precise depths.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy-duty floor grinders, dust extraction systems, industrial mixers, and hand tools.
- Site Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site. Follow all safety regulations, especially concerning dust control (silica regulations).
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience in concrete finishing, floor preparation, flooring installation, or general concrete construction is highly preferred. We are willing to train candidates with a strong general construction background.
- Technical Skill: Familiarity with mixing ratios, handling characteristics of cementitious materials, and utilizing laser levels.
- Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs repeatedly, work on your knees for extended periods, and perform physical labor.
- Transportation: Must possess a valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to commute to various project sites.
- Attributes: Strong punctuation, absolute reliability, teamwork mentality, and a strict commitment to quality workmanship.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
