Overview
We are seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for finishing drywall surfaces to ensure smooth, seamless walls and ceilings in commercial and residential projects. This role requires attention to detail, proficiency with various tools, and a solid understanding of construction processes. The Drywall Taper plays a vital part in delivering high-quality craftsmanship and contributing to the overall success of our projects.
Responsibilities
- Apply joint compound and tape to drywall seams, corners, and other surfaces to create a smooth finish
- Sand and prepare drywall surfaces for painting or further finishing work
- Read blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to determine specific taping requirements
- Use hand tools such as taping knives, hawks, and sanding blocks effectively
- Operate power tools including drills, screw guns, and sanders safely and efficiently
- Collaborate with carpenters, masons, and other trades to ensure proper installation and finishing of drywall systems
- Assist with related tasks such as caulking, sealing joints, or minor repairs as needed
- Maintain a clean work environment and ensure safety protocols are followed at all times
Experience
- Prior experience in drywall taping or finishing preferred but not required; relevant experience in construction or related trades is beneficial
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and construction estimating is a plus
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and safety procedures in a construction setting
- Skills in related areas such as carpentry, concrete finishing, restoration, cabinet installation, flooring installation, tile laying, electrical experience, plumbing, masonry, welding, or construction painting are advantageous but not mandatory
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics for precise application of finishing techniques
