Project Manager – Ottawa Region
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead institutional and commercial construction projects across the Ottawa region.
The successful candidate will manage projects from preconstruction and award through construction, closeout, and warranty. DMJ completes a significant amount of work for school boards and other public-sector clients, including additions, renovations, private sector, site work, and projects within active or occupied facilities.
This role requires strong leadership, organization, financial awareness, disciplined documentation, and the ability to anticipate and resolve issues before they affect schedule, cost, or quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage construction projects from start-up through closeout and warranty. Review contracts, drawings, specifications, budgets, schedules, and project requirements.
- Coordinate clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, Site Superintendents, and internal project staff. Develop and actively manage project schedules in collaboration with the Site Superintendent. Manage project budgets, cost forecasts, progress billings, and subcontractor payments.
- Prepare, review, and track RFIs, shop drawings, change orders, site instructions, and project correspondence.
- Monitor procurement, long-lead materials, subcontractor performance, and project milestones.
- Lead project meetings and provide clear updates on schedule, cost, risks, and required decisions. Identify and proactively resolve contractual, scheduling, coordination, financial, and quality risks.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation within Procore.
- Coordinate inspections, deficiencies, turnover, substantial completion, and final closeout.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Qualifications Minimum 5–10 years of experience managing institutional, commercial, or similar ICI construction projects.
Demonstrated experience independently managing multi-trade projects of significant scope and complexity.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience working on school-board, municipal, government, or other public-sector projects.
Experience with additions, phased renovations, and construction within active or occupied facilities is considered a strong asset.
Strong working knowledge of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
Proven experience managing project budgets, forecasts, progress billings, and change orders.
Familiarity with CCDC contracts and Ontario construction requirements.
Experience using Procore for project documentation and communication.
Proficiency with MS Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory.
Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
Valid driver’s licence.
Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is considered an asset.
Equivalent practical construction experience will also be considered.

Pay: $95,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
