Little Bear Early Learning Center (ELC) is a dedicated non-profit organization in Saskatoon, committed to providing high-quality early childhood education and care for children aged 6 months to 5 years. Our mission is to foster a nurturing and enriching environment for our little learners, and we’re seeking a passionate and skilled Cook to join our team!
Position Overview:
We are looking for a dependable and enthusiastic Cook to prepare nutritious and delicious meals and snacks for 60 children daily. The ideal candidate will independently curate a menu and grocery lists, ensuring all meals meet dietary requirements of the Canadian Food Guide and safety standards. This role is crucial in supporting the well-being and development of the children in our care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals and snacks according to the schedule.
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented in a safe, hygienic, and appealing manner.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and adhere to food safety protocols.
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with the Early Learning Center team to accommodate any special dietary needs or allergies.
- Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and WHMIS standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and development as required.
- Research new recipes for menu development.
Qualifications:
- Valid Food Safety certification.
- WHMIS certification.
- Experience in cooking for large groups, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines accurately.
- Friendly and approachable attitude, with a passion for working with children.
- Asset: Proficiency in Michif or Cree languages, ECE training
