Ambrose University is seeking a customer-focused and organized Retail Store Manager to lead the operations of the Lions’ Store, our campus retail and merchandise hub serving students, faculty, staff, and the broader university community. This role combines retail operations, merchandising, customer experience, inventory management, and brand engagement within a collaborative post-secondary environment.
This is a 10.5-month position running from August 1 to June 15 each year, with unpaid time off from June 16 to July 31. The successful candidate will begin during the month of July to support onboarding, training, and transition into the role ahead of the academic year.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee daily store operations, including sales, merchandising, inventory, and ordering
- Lead and supervise the Lions’ Store Assistant and student employees
- Plan and execute merchandise selection and buying schedules
- Manage textbook and digital course materials (including the VitalSource eBook program)
- Collaborate with Communications to support social media, marketing, and brand presence
- Coordinate merchandise photoshoots and promotional initiatives
- Build relationships with faculty, students, vendors, and external partners
- Develop and manage the store budget and report on performance
- Support campus events and initiatives (some evenings/weekends required)
What We’re Looking For
- Undergraduate degree
- 5+ years of experience in retail, customer service, and/or management (preferred)
- Experience with social media marketing, Canva, and visual merchandising
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage inventory, priorities, and deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Experience in a post‑secondary setting is an asset
