Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Assistant / Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our healthcare team. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality patient care to patients of a family practice and walk in clinic. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient-centered care.
The Clinical Assistant / RPN will play a vital role in supporting medical teams by delivering safe, effective, and empathetic care to patients of all ages.
Duties
- Clinc Management Support
- Perform clinical tasks including vital signs, point-of-care testing, wound care, and specimen collection
- Support recall and follow-up processes for patients with complex chronic disease needs
- Assist with well-baby and well-child visits including growth monitoring, developmental screening, and caregiver education
- Administer vaccines according to Ontario immunization schedules and HFHT medical directives, including documentation and cold chain management
- Support recall and reminder processes for overdue immunizations and preventive screening
- Conduct telephone and in-person triage, assess patient needs, and prioritize care in collaboration with the Doctors
- Follow-up on patient’s blood work and imaging results as per physician's direction
- Maintain accurate, timely EMR documentation in accordance with CNO standards and HFHT policies
- Responsible for ordering vaccines and clinical supplies, stocking clinical rooms, and sterilizing clinical tools
Qualifications
- Valid registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or equivalent licensure
- Prior experience in clinic setting is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration protocols
- Experience with electronic health record systems such as CHR or PS suite or OSCAR is highly desirable
- Compassionate approach to patient care with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments and adapt to diverse clinical situations
- Experience working with children and seniors is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and patient safety standards
