At Wheaton’s, product selection drives the customer experience. In this role, you will play a key part in identifying trends, sourcing products, building supplier relationships, and supporting impactful merchandising initiatives.
What You’ll Do
As Purchasing Manager, you will lead the purchasing department while overseeing a network of more than 200 suppliers and managing product sourcing across multiple retail categories.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of the purchasing department.
- Manage relationships with 200+ domestic and international suppliers
- Source innovative, trend-forward products that align with Wheatons brand and customer expectations
- Negotiate pricing, terms, freight, and supplier agreements.
- Effectively manage inventory levels in both retail stores and warehouse locations.
- Oversee purchasing across categories and platforms including 6 retail locations, and growing e-commerce site.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing department to provide merchandise for effective in-store promotions, campaigns, and events
- Analyze trends, product performance, and market opportunities to support strategic purchasing decisions
- Travel to store locations to support merchandising and product planning
- Attend supplier meetings, trade shows, and sourcing trips throughout Canada, Europe, and Asia

Required Qualifications
- Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills
- Exceptional organization, planning, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to manage multiple product categories in a fast-paced retail environment
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally
Preferred Experience
- Experience in retail buying, home décor, seasonal merchandise, fashion, gourmet food, giftware, or specialty retail
- Strong understanding of consumer trends and merchandising strategies
- Experience working collaboratively across departments, including marketing and operations
