Our client is seeking a hands-on
General Accountant to join their growing manufacturing team in Waterloo. This is a
contract-to-permanent opportunity.
This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working independently, takes ownership of the full accounting cycle, and thrives in a small business environment while receiving support from an experienced corporate finance team.
Responsibilities:
- Perform month-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis against budget and historical results
- Process and maintain full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including invoice entry, payment processing, and collections
- Complete daily cash application, bank reporting, deposits, and month-end bank reconciliations
- Monitor aged receivables and follow up with customers regarding outstanding balances
- Process customer payments, including cheque, EFT, wire, and credit card transactions
- Administer payroll for approximately 30 employees using ADP
- Assist with benefits administration and payroll-related regulatory reporting
- Prepare internal financial reports and daily operational metrics
- Liaise with external accounting partners and support audit or reporting requirements as needed
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in a full-cycle accounting role
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience
- Payroll experience is a strong asset but not required
- Experience with ERP systems
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
