Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced independent contractor (subcontractor) to handle job-site preparation and cleanup for spray foam insulation and fireproofing projects on residential and commercial sites. You will prepare areas before installation and perform post-job cleaning so sites are safe, protected, and ready for the next trades. This is not an employee position; work is offered on a contract, as-needed basis under a subcontractor agreement.
Requirements
- Operates as an independent subcontractor (can invoice; HST-registered ).
- Experience on construction sites, ideally with insulation, spray foam, or fireproofing.
- Comfortable working around spray foam and cementitious fireproofing materials.
- Own vehicle and ability to travel to job sites across the GTA and nearby regions.
- Own basic tools and cleaning equipment for prep and cleanup work.
- Able to lift materials, climb ladders, and work safely at heights.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions and site procedures.
- WHMIS, Fall Protection, and valid WSIB coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Install floor and surface protection (poly, plastic, Board, masking windows/doors, covering mechanicals and fixtures).
- Assist with basic prep for spray foam and fireproofing (moving materials, setting up barriers).
- Perform post-install cleanup: remove masking and protection, shop-vac overspray dust, clean studs and exposed surfaces after installation, remove old insulation where required, sweep and mop as needed, bag and remove debris and scrap materials, wipe down ledges and accessible surfaces, and organize materials in the designated area.
- Follow safety protocols and handle materials and equipment safely on-site.
- Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow all site safety rules.
- Communicate with the owner by phone/text and send before/after photos when required by client
Compensation
- Pay: 25 CAD per hour, or a flat rate per project as agreed in advance based on scope and location.
- Work is paid on a subcontract/independent contractor basis upon receipt of invoice, according to the subcontractor agreement.
