Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in leading kitchen operations and delivering an exceptional culinary experience. The Sous Chef plays a key leadership role in maintaining food quality, training and developing the kitchen team, upholding health and safety standards, and ensuring smooth day-to-day execution in a high-volume, upscale dining environment. This posting is for a future vacancy/talent pool and not for a currently existing role.
Salary range: $55,000 – $70,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
What You'll Do:

Uphold our culinary, service, and hospitality standards at all times

Support the Head Chef in the day-to-day management of all kitchen activities, including preparation, production, and service execution

Lead, coach, and train kitchen team members to ensure consistency, accountability, and growth

Remain composed and solutions-focused during peak service hours in a fast-paced environment

Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards of quality, consistency, and taste

Assist in the preparation, development, and execution of menu items and features

Oversee mise en place, station readiness, and kitchen organization for service

Ensure all assigned menu items are prepared in an efficient and consistent manner

Help manage ordering, inventory, and proper stock levels to support service and minimize waste

Support food cost controls and efficient kitchen operations

Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in all areas of the kitchen

Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained, clean, and in good working order

Have extensive knowledge of cooking temperatures and general food safety regulations

Enforce company policies, kitchen standards, and all applicable health and safety regulations

Step into a leadership role in the absence of the Head Chef, as required
What You’ll Need:

2–4 years of experience in a Sous Chef, Junior Sous Chef, or senior line cook leadership role in a full-service, high-volume, or upscale dining environment

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively

Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, detail-oriented kitchen

Results-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities

Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency, quality, and presentation

Solid understanding of kitchen operations, food costing, inventory, and ordering practices

Extensive knowledge of cooking temperatures, food handling, sanitation, and health and safety regulations

Culinary degree or diploma and/or equivalent education and practical experience is an asset
-
Flexible availability is required, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Food Handler Certification is required or must be obtained

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
