Job Description
Welders are responsible for safely MIG welding pre-assembled structural steel products to meet the quality standards and specifications demanded by our Quality Assurance Program and of our industry regulators
Responsibilities
- Perform various fit-up and tacking operations on a variety of structural assemblies
- Interpret weld symbols and follow weld procedures
- Adding stiffeners, brackets, faceplates, etc. using shop orders for location before finish welding
- Perform production GMAW operations on a variety of plate, bars, channel, and related materials working off shop orders and/or verbal instructions
- Setting welding machine to assure uniform bead, adequate penetration with minimum wrap
- Utilizing cutting torch as required
- Performing cleaning operations when required using chipping hammer or grinder to remove burn-through and spatter
- Utilize overhead crane to lift within the capacity of the crane
- Maintaining work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- Perform tasks as required by Supervisor
- Be willing to help the team succeed wherever possible
Qualifications
- Must have basic math skills to calculate measurements
- CWB certification in GMAW is considered an asset
- Prior experience in the steel industry is considered an asset
- Prior welding experience required
- Capable of working safely in a fast-paced environment
