Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles to deliver freight and goods to designated locations, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load, secure, and unload freight using equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling of all cargo
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and heavy equipment to identify maintenance needs or safety issues, performing basic automotive repairs if required
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and delivery records for tracking purposes
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
- Assist with loading and unloading freight, utilizing heavy equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks as needed
- Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents or damage during transit or loading activities
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid driver’s license suitable for operating large or heavy vehicles
- Familiarity with forklift operation and freight handling procedures
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and basic automotive repair skills is highly desirable
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and minor repairs to ensure optimal performance
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping
- Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with team members and customers
