Apprentice Heavy Duty Technician / Auto Apprentice

This is a full-time permanent position with work schedule from Mondays-Fridays.
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused first- or second-year Heavy-Duty Mechanic Apprentice to join our transportation department. Working in a school bus environment, you will assist with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of our fleet to ensure safe and reliable transportation for students.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced journeyperson technicians while progressing through your apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with preventative maintenance and repairs on school buses and support vehicles.

Perform inspections in accordance with provincial regulations and company standards.

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and air brake systems.

Complete routine servicing, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements.

Assist with repairing engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, and braking systems.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.

Ensure the shop, tools, and work areas are kept clean and organized.

Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and regulations.

Participate in ongoing training and apprenticeship requirements.
Qualifications

Registered as a first- or second-year Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Apprentice .

Previous experience working with diesel engines, commercial vehicles, or buses is considered an asset.

Knowledge of air brake systems is an asset.

Valid Class 5 driver's licence; a Class 2 licence with air brake endorsement, or willingness to obtain one, is preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
