Law Clerk- Residential/Commercial Real Estate, Wills, Estates, Trusts & Corporate Files
Position Summary
Our client, a Family Law firm is seeking an experienced Intermediate or Senior Law Clerk to support their Residential and Commercial Real Estate practice, as well as Wills, Estates, Trusts, and Corporate files. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional who can manage files independently while contributing positively to a close-knit and collaborative team. The position offers a hybrid work model, providing a balance of in-office collaboration and remote work flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
Real Estate (Residential & Commercial):
- Managing residential and commercial real estate files from opening through closing
- Preparing and reviewing agreements of purchase and sale, requisitions, and reporting letters
- Conducting title searches, reviewing title, and resolving title issues
- Drafting and registering documents through Teraview
- Coordinating with lenders, brokers, clients, and opposing counsel
- Preparing statements of adjustments, closing documents, and post-closing reporting
Wills, Estates, Trusts & Elder Law:
- Drafting wills, powers of attorney, trusts, and related estate planning documents
- Assisting with estate administration, including probate applications and estate accounts
- Preparing court and government filings and related correspondence
- Managing client intake, document execution, and ongoing file follow-up
Corporate Law:
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Business Corporations Act and Canada Business Corporations Act.
- Preparing and maintaining corporate minute books, including share registers, securities registers, and directors' and officers' registers.
- Proficiency with Ontario and federal corporate filings, including incorporations, amendments, amalgamations, dissolutions, continuances, and annual returns.
- Experience with the electronic filing system, including Ontario Business Registry and Corporations Canada.
- Ability to draft standard corporate documents.
- Understanding of corporate compliance requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Law Clerk diploma or equivalent practical experience
- Intermediate (3–5 years) or Senior (5+ years) relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of Ontario residential and commercial real estate transactions
- Experience with wills, estates, and estate administration matters
Proficiency with Teraview and legal practice management software
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Professional communication skills and a client-focused approach
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
