Job Summary
The Meat Manager is responsible for overseeing the meat department operations, ensuring high standards of food safety, quality, and customer service. This role involves managing inventory, staff, and the overall presentation of meat products to enhance customer satisfaction and drive sales. The Meat Manager will also be involved in training staff on proper food handling and preparation techniques while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Duties
- Supervise daily operations of the meat department, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Manage inventory levels, including ordering and receiving meat products to maintain stock.
- Train and mentor staff in meat cutting techniques, food handling practices, and customer service skills.
- Prepare and package meat products for display, ensuring attractive presentation to customers.
- Assist customers with inquiries regarding meat selection, preparation methods, and cooking tips.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the meat department area in accordance with health standards.
- Monitor product quality and freshness, removing any items that do not meet company standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote sales initiatives and special promotions.
Skills
- Proficient in food handling and food safety practices.
- Strong knowledge of meat cutting techniques and preparation methods.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers.
- Experience in the food industry or kitchen environment preferred; butcher experience is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills to manage inventory and maintain department standards effectively.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
